1. What the heck I LOVE HTML!

I've always thought of coding as a miserable process, but my shitty computer science classes in high school have returned to my brain and I remember how fun making those little project websites was. HTMLS and CSS feel like a very intuitive and linguistic form of coding that even comic brain-rotted people like me can figure out. I'm looking forward to eventually hitting the storage limit for this website. The great thing about HTML is that I can make decorative looking stuff without having to draw. I luuuuv drawing but I also hate it. I will go into a drawing frenzy and then not draw at all for weeks afterwards.

But not with HTML! No matter how burned out I get I can still write a lot of text, typer nation 4 life.

Idle musing addendum: I want to come up with a super huge interconnected fictional world to post about on this website so I can get away with writing barely connected short stories.

Idle musing addendum 2: Shareware is the is the foundation of an advanced digital species.... does that sound deep?

2. Hana-chan reccomends music?

I've realized that despite music taking up 50% of my brain I haven't talked about it here yet!

I know that my moe persona may clash with my music tastes, but my favorite music scenes are heavy metal specifically classic American thrash metal, and the "New Wave of British Heavy Metal" that's actually kind of old wave now. I swear by Dio and Megadeth.

I also like other stuff though! Like every good weeb I give my due respect to the vocaloid genre, I also listened a lot to The Smiths and I do have a playlist of hip-hop songs though my tastes in rap are far less interesting and a bit more generic. I have no disdain for modern rap specifically but I do mostly listen to classic rap like N.W.A.

Idle musing addendum 1: Despite mostly consuming American and Japanese fiction, I consume a lot of British music now that I think about it.

3. Hana's magic system classes

One element of fiction I have always found particularly interesting is the drastically different power systems in each verse. I loved seeing how my favorite superpower tropes would work in different forms of magic or seeing what unique powers the author came up with just for their system.

To be blunt, I have always found common ways of describing magic systems unsatisfying. They usually are a dichotomy (Hard vs soft, Arcane vs Divine) and don't actually relate to the mechanics of the magic, just the flavor text so to speak. I have come up with a very rough idea for a way of classifying the actual origins of the power.

So far I have come up with 3 options but these could be expanded just be one axis on a 3x3 alignment chart. To clarify, these options are not mutually exclusive, in fact, this system was inspired by TTRPGs where magic classes have their own rules for magic.

1. Esoteric technique: Magic that is learned. Ninjutsu from Naruto can be used by anyone as long as they have enough chakra and can perform the hand seals. Wizards in Dungeons & Dragons use learned magic.

2. Inherited technique: Magic that someone is born with or awakens without learning it. Cursed Techniques in Jujutsu Kaisen are usually hereditary and are encoded in the brain. Sorcerers in Dungeons & Dragons use innate magic.

3. Borrowed technique: Magic that is provided by an external being, this does not apply to beings who cast magic themselves but have an external power source. A good example would be humans with devil contracts in Chainsaw Man or Warlocks and Clerics in Dungeons & Dragons.
